September 26 Fortunecity has been bugging me lately. The server has been acting up and made it difficult for me to update, so I might switch to another host. I'm still making a decision about this, so I'll give more information about that later. I am working on a update for the StarCraft page. It will be a list of strategies that will give several tips for defense and offense for each race. I am also trying to get the word out on the Button Memorizing Assistant. I am e-mailing macgaming.com about it again, hoping they will find it news worthy unlike last time. They never got back to me on the e-mail I sent when it was first released, so I am assuming it was just a mix up and they forgot to report it since I have always had a pretty good relationship with that site. I will try other web sites like the Mac Gamer's Ledge but I am doubtful they will report it, worth a try anyway. I also came up with the idea of telling Version Tracker, they might very well spread the word since they report every update of every piece of software imaginable. Remember, you can get the Button Memorizing Assistant in the downloads section. September 23 The button assistant is up including all the updates that were promised.September 23 The updated button assistant will be posted within the next couple of hours (at the most). It will include support for the iMac keyboards, iBook keyboards, and Powerbook keyboards. I also found out that Apple's new Pro keyboard is identitical to my own so I all ready support the Pro keyboard and I didn't even know it.September 19 I should be able to give an update to the button assistant very soon now, what I know for sure is that it will definately cover iMac keyboards.September 16 I updated the links section with a new web site a friend of mine told me about called CD Cover Central. I don't know about you, but I have countless CDs that are in containers I bought at the dollar store and without the labels the game came with (since they were lost years ago), but labels I cut out of paper so I will know what they are. At this web site, you can download and print out the original cover, so it's like you never lost it. I haven't had my Sam and Max cd cover for years, I finally have it again although now the language on the cover is in German :). Another interesting tid bit about CD Cover Central is that it has a Playstation 2 giveaway, so make sure you go there and sign up!There were several other updates to the links page, one was a link to another Playstation 2 web site (PSX Extreme, which is also giving away a Playstation 2). The page is also categorized better now with a line seperating between Macintosh sites, Playstation 2 sites, miscellanous sites, and the all important page to add links to any web site you choose (including your own). I believe the next update concerning game pages will be some strategies for StarCraft or a Marathon map, that is still being decided. You will be informed of what I choose to do in the next update. Something interesting in the U.S. political arena concerning gamers is the Federal Trade Commission report on the entertainment industry. The report concludes the industry markets mature content to kids. Senators John McCain, Sam Brownback, Fritz Hollings, and Bryon Dorgan were involved in a hearing earlier this week that discussed the commission's report with some leaders of the entertainment industry (the CEO of Sega was the largest representative of the game industry, others decided not to attend). You might want to hear what they all have to say, you can watch it with RealPlayer at C-SPAN's web site. It is a fairly long hearing, more than 2 hours, so I would reccomend just listening to whatever you can. I think some good ideas came out of the hearings, but they should really should more strongly consider options like easy access to song lyrics, demonstrating games to parents before they let their kids have it, and for that matter demonstrating any product to parents before they let the kids have it (the ultimate rating system, in my opinion). I wouldn't also hesitate going to the U.S. Senate's web site and e-mailing your representatives and letting them know how you feel. |
